A weekend of Two Halves

Good afternoon readers. I hope you have all had a fabulous weekend. Hasn't it been an odd one? I mean, yesterday was the most glorious sunshining weather, if a bit nippy, and now I'm looking out of the window on grey skies, rain and wind. Never mind, such is England hey?

We tried to make the most of yesterday by going up to the highest point in the town to admire the view, and to enjoy a coffee in the coffee shop that's up there. We were a little disappointed to find that the coffee shop was closed for a bit of a pre-season freshen up, which kind of threw all of our plans out of the window.

Check out that view
Even so, we thought that since we were up there, we would admire the view nonetheless. On a clear day (as you can see it was) the view is phenomenal. It's not just the view out to the vast blue North Sea, but inland over hills and dales, it's pretty breathtaking and mighty windy.

From here we had a bit of a fruitless journey around town trying to find a coffee shop that wasn't filled with tourists, who were making the most of the pleasant weather. In the end we just decided to go into town and have a wander.

Outfit
So sunny I wore a frock
Boots - Dr. Martens, Bag - Cath Kidston, Dress - Fever, Jacket - Barbour, Scarf - Gift
Bowler Hat - Christies (a gift from hubby)
I was quite naughty and bought a new bag (I'll show you another time), which is really bad of me as I'm trying to be better at not buying things, but I did actually need this one. I know, I have loads of bags, but as of tomorrow I start my daily commute by train. In all of my working life post passing my driving test 11 years ago, I have always driven to work. Now hubby doesn't have to pass by my workplace any more though, it just doesn't make sense financially or in terms of the time it takes. So, I bought a lovely backpack to carry on the 15 minute walk from train station to work as I thought it would be easier to transport than the many carry type bags I usually employ... and I must say, I am in love with it... so far.

I'm also hoping that the change of transport for my commute will afford me the great luxury of regular reading time. I'm quite excited by it, I have to tell you.

I digress. This morning we woke up to blisteringly cold conditions, but even so, we decided to head down to the beach at low tide (given that high tide today is meant to be a pretty scary time) with the dogs. We wrapped up well, but I'm not going to lie, it was nithering (a Yorkshirism for bloody freezing.

The dogs didn't mind though since they kept themselves nice and toasty running up and down an almost empty beach, exploring the rock pools and frolicking in that way dogs do.

Despite our windbitten cheeks and the lack of circulation in my fingers, it was a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend half an hour. It's always such a pleasure to watch the dogs out playing freely on the beach.

The rest of the day has been spent repotting some of my house plants, trying to get this damn ancient computer to work, and waiting for my delicious roast dinner that I can smell cooking. Ah the joys of Sundays.

I hope you all have a great week, and if you want to see how much reading my daily train commute really does translate into, then why not follow me here on Goodreads, widget in the sidebar.

What a gorgeous view, you really are living in a picturesque place.
It was definitely a wintry weekend here, thick frost, heavy snow flurries and torrential rain. xxx

Oh I haven't heard the word nithered for years! What a stunning view though, i never knew there was somewhere so high in Scarborough and look at how blue the North Sea is!
