Concert: Billy Ocean

If you're a child (or adult for that matter) of the 1980s, then chances are you will probably remember the household name that is, Billy Ocean. With such a myriad of worldwide hits, including When the Going Gets Tough, Red Light and Caribbean Queen, even if you're a good bit younger than me then the chances are you've boogied to one of them over the years.

Lastnight he played in concert at the Royal Hall in Harrogate, and I had tickets. It's the first time I've attended anything at this venue, and the venue alone is enough to set pulses racing with its elaborate red velvet curtains, gilt encrusted boxes and ornate ceilings. It's a beautiful spacious venue and I will definitely be looking to attend more events there.

The concert itself was impressive. Billy had a very talented band and the sound more than filled up the cavernous space. That 1980s big sound was evidenced throughout the show and the performance was fantastic.

The atmosphere was party like, and unlike some other concerts I've been to, the audience was positively encouraged to dance in front of the stage. I danced heartily, I'm paying for it today, but it was well worth it because it was such a highly enjoyable concert, and definitely one I will remember.

Billy Ocean is on tour in the UK until September, I would definitely recommend it.

Looks like an amazing venue and concert. I heard him do a live session on the radio recently and was super impressed at how his voice his voice has preserved throughout the years - Nichola x
